Oct. 6/24 at Oshawa: Highlights & Recap
The Colts and General met in a familiar place in a rematch from last season’s playoffs. Some new faces for each teambolstered by big summers at the 2024 NHL Draft, helped make it an eventful Sunday.
The first period saw both teams waiting for a mistake to be made by their opponent. A surprise to many, the period would result in no penalties. The Generals would strike the scoresheet first near the end of the period to gain the 1-0 lead.
Emil Hemming helped start the offence on the powerplay as he grabbed the rebound to net his second goal of the season, Cole Beaudoin and Riley Patterson grabbed an assist each. Oshawa would respond over four minutes later to regain the lead. Overage forward, Zach Wigle would toe-drag an Oshawa defender and find the tying goal making it goals in back-to-back games, Tristan Bertucci and Kashawn Aitcheson recorded the assists. A week after returning from the Utah Hockey Club, Cole Beaudoin would hammer home his first of the season, Riley Patterson netting the assist.
The Colts headed into the third period with a one-goal lead looking to close the weekend out with another win. Cole Beaudoin and Riley Patterson would connect once again 1:42 into the final frame, Emil Hemming grabbed the assist. The goal helped the Colts carry the momentum but the Generals eventually grabbed their third goal of the evening with 9:49 remaining. Beaudoin’s second of the game would stand as the game-winner, marking the fifth game-winning goal of his OHL career.
Riley Patterson would set a new personal best with three assists while being named the game’s second star. Beaudoin’s three points would earn him the game’s first star.
