Colts Trade Liam Maaskant to Kitchener
Barrie, ON– The Barrie Colts and General Manager Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Kitchener Rangers.
In the deal the Barrie Colts obtain Sudbury’s 6th Round Pick in 2015.
In exchange the Colts send to the Kitchener Rangers overage defenceman Liam Maaskant.
The Erie Otters originally drafted Liam Maaskant in 2010 in the 8th round (150th overall). In October 2012, Maaskant was claimed off waivers by the Colts and played 63 regular season and 11 playoff games over a span of two seasons’ in Barrie.
“We wish Liam all the best with the Kitchener Rangers. He has always played the game with passion and was a character kid here in Barrie,” said GM Jason Ford.
In 130 career OHL games Maaskant has 7 goals and 11 assists for 18 points while tallying 145 PIMS.
