COLTS HOST OTTAWA
The Ottawa 67`s made their second and final trip of the season to the Barrie Molson Centre Saturday night looking to knock off the Colts on their home ice for the second time this year.
Barrie was looking to string together back to back wins and improve their positioning in the Eastern Conference standings and were successful on this night as they edged the first place 67`s by a score of 2-1.
Each team fired ten shots on goal in the first period but Mathias Niederberger and Michael Nishi stopped every shot that came their way in their respective goals.
There was no scoring until the third period when the 67`s jumped on the board with a nice effort by Shane Prince. Roughly five minutes later it was captain Colin Behenna breaking in short-handed and making no mistake going to the backhand and beating Nishi to tie the game at one. It is the second straight game the Barrie forward has scored a short-handed goal.
The game-winner came off the stick of Colts defenceman Alex Lepkowski who gathered the puck at the point and fired it towards the goal where it deflected off a 67`s player and past Nishi to make it 2-1.
