Colts Acquire Lizotte From Petes
Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Peterborough Petes.
The Colts acquire defenceman Cameron Lizotte and a 4th round pick (Kingston’s) in 2016 from the Petes in exchange for defenceman Brandon Prophet and Colts 1997 born forward Tyler Rollo.
Lizotte, 18, was selected by the Peterborough Petes in the 2nd round (25th overall) in 2013. He has appeared in 130 career OHL games registering 2 goals and 14 points while recording 218 PIMS.
“Cameron Lizotte is a solid defenseman that plays the game hard, and will help stabilize our defensive corps,” said General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford. “He brings a lot of qualities we like, and will be a welcome addition to the dressing room.”
The 6 foot 2, 197-Pound defenceman was named rookie of the year in the NOBHL in 2010-11 and was currently serving as an Assistant Captain for the Peterborough Petes.
Prophet, 19, was in his second season with the Barrie Colts after being acquired in a deal with the Saginaw Spirit last season. The fourth year defenceman has appeared in 222 career OHL games scoring 9 times and 52 points while tallying 259 Penalty Minutes.
Rollo, 18, was drafted by the Barrie Colts in the 13th round (255th overall) in 2013. The Burlington, Ontario native is currently playing with the Oakville Blades of the OJHL appearing in 27 games this season registering 12 goals and 34 points.
The Barrie Colts would like to wish Brandon Prophet all the best with his new club. He represented the organization well in the community and was a respected teammate.
The Barrie Colts will be in action tonight, as they head to the Sleeman Centre to the face the Guelph Storm in their first of two meetings this season. Game time is 7:30pm.
