Heitzner, Douglas and Peca all Commit to Barrie Colts
Barrie, ON– Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that three players have committed to the team. Forwards Kyle Heitzner, Jaden Peca and Curtis Douglas have all signed Ontario Hockey League standard player agreements.
Heitzner, 17, was drafted by the Barrie Colts in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection in the 11th round (218th overall). The 5-foot-10 169-pound centreman spent last season playing with the Cambridge Winter Hawks in the GOJHL scoring 12 goals and 31 points in 38 games played.
Douglas, 16, appeared in 32 games with the Mississauga Senators Minor Midget AAA last year registering 8 goals and 12 points in 32 games. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward was Barrie’s fourth round selection (76th overall) in this past 2016 OHL Priority selection draft.
Lastly, Peca, 17 was selected by the Colts in 6th round (102nd overall) in the 2015 OHL Priority selection draft. The Woodbridge, Ontario native has recorded 1 goal and 2 points in three exhibition contests so far with Barrie. The 5-foot-11, 163-pound forward is also the cousin of former NHLer, Michael Peca and former Barrie Colt Luch Nasato.
Heitzner, Douglas and Peca will be attending Innisdale Secondary School to complete their high school education.
