Colts Select Two in CHL Import Draft
The 2019 CHL Import Draft concluded Thursday afternoon and the Barrie Colts held two selections at 11th and 71st in the draft.
Their first selection was 11th overall where the team selected goaltender, Arturs Silovs, a Latvian born player who played for HK Riga in the MHL. In seven games with the club he posted a 2.45 GAA and a .920 SV%. The 2001 born goaltender was just recently drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 6th round (156th overall) at this past weekends NHL Draft held in Vancouver, BC.
The 6 foot 3, 168lb goaltender also played for the the Latvian national U-18 team, playing in five games with a 3.32 GAA and a .918 SV%.
With their second pick in the draft, the Colts selected German Centre, John Jason Peterka from EC Red Bull Akademie U20. The 2002 born Peterka put up impressive numbers in the Czech league, with 94 points (45 goals, 49 assists) in 48 games. Last year in International play for the German U-18 and U-20 team, John Jason combined for 19 points in 19 games.
The 5 foot 11, 181lb forward is eligible for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal.
