Colts Fall Short Against Bulldogs in School Day Game
The Barrie Colts were on the road this morning taking on the Hamilton Bulldogs in their annual school day game. The Colts headed into this one riding a three game win streak.
It was the Bulldogs that struck first with Arthur Kaliyev tapping in a Jan Jenik pass. Cameron Supryka added the second assist on Kaliyev’s 16th of the season. The Bulldogs got another in the first on the powerplay. It was Logan Morrison from Tag Bertuzzi and Arthur Kaliyev. The frame would end with the Bulldogs up 2-0.
In the second period, Tyson Foerster lit the lamp first on a hard wrist shot from the low slot. The Bulldogs would respond with Jenik scoring from the top of the circle. Kaliyev picked up the assist. Foerster wasn’t done though, as he would score again this period on the powerplay. Jason Willms and Ryan Suzuki assisted, bringing the Colts back within one. The second period ended with Hamilton leading 3-2.
It would be Jenik scoring his second of the night to open the scoring in the third period. Mark Duarte and Navrin Mutter added the assists. Jacob Tortora would then answer, banging in a rebound after Colts captain, Jason Willms made a great move cutting across the net. Matej Pekar added the second assist. Then it was former Colt, Kade Landry scoring unassisted to put Hamilton back up by two. The Colts kept fighting though, and Matej Pekar would end up scoring with just under four minutes to play, with Mathew Hill getting an assist. With the net empty, the Colts added lots of pressure, but couldn’t score.
The Bulldogs hung on to win 5-4.
The Colts are back in action Friday night in Saginaw.
