Colts Acquire Arizona Coyotes Goalie Prospect, Anson Thornton, from Sting!
The Barrie Colts and the Sarnia Sting have completed a trade!
Colts acquire:
– G – Anson Thornton
– 2026 5th Rd Pick (Cond.)
Sting Acquire:
– 2023 2nd Rd Pick
– 2024 3rd Rd Pick
– 2026 5th Rd Pick
The 6.04 & 2003 born goaltender joins the Colts after spending last season in the crease for the Sarnia Sting where he appeared in 26 games. Thornton was selected third overall in the 2020 U18 Priority Selection Draft by the Sting. He was a member of the 2018-19 Don Mills Minor Midget team with Colts Captain, Brandt Clarke, where they won the 2019 OHL Cup.
Thornton attended the Arizona Coyotes training camp last September where he signed an entry-level contract. He went on to appear in one preseason game with Arizona where he stopped all 17 shots faced to earn the win against the Los Angeles Kings on Sept. 27th, 2021.
