Barrie Colts Rookie Camp
It was a busy weekend in Barrie as the Colts welcomed in their draft picks and some free agents to the Allandale Recreation Centre on Saturday and Sunday for their annual Rookie Camp.
Saturday had all the players show up and be put through some off ice drills by the Colts training staff and also had them on the ice for team practices.
Sunday morning was the Blue vs. White game.
It was a goaltending showdown to begin the game as neither team could get on the scoreboard in the first period. Sami Molu and Jakob Robillard kept things scoreless with some big stops early in the game.
In the second the scoring would get underway. Payton Schaly would net the opening goal of the game to give Team White a 1-0 lead.
Not long after it was Mathew Hill snapping a shot from the blue line that went off the crossbar and in to give Team White the 2-0 advantage.
Team Blue would reply, it was Peter Fleming sprung on a breakaway, who scored to cut into the lead.
They would keep coming but Christian Filippetti made some big stops to keep Team White in the lead.
Rocco Testa-Basi would add a late one for Team White to push them to the 3-1 victory.
The game ended with a shootout that all players took part in.
It was a great weekend in Barrie for the coaching and scouting staff to get a real good look at the draft picks and free agents as main camp in August is quickly approaching which will be the next time we see everyone back on the ice.
