Troops off to Peterborough Thursday
BRAMPTON, Ont. The visiting Battalion and Peterborough Petes face off at 7 p.m. Thursday in a key Eastern Conference matchup. An audio broadcast of the Ontario Hockey League game will be available at www.gopetesgo.com.
Brampton is tied with Toronto and Oshawa for third place in the conference playoff race, one point ahead of Peterborough. The Battalion, which has won four of its last five games, has 48 points from 45 games. The Petes, who boast a 6-2-2 won-lost-tied record in their last 10 starts, have also played 45 games.
The teams have met twice this season, with both games at the Brampton Centre. In the first meeting, on Oct. 20, Peterborough rallied from a three-goal, second-period deficit to take a 6-5 lead seven minutes into the third frame, forcing the Troops to notch a power-play goal at 10:21 to earn a 6-6 tie. Chris Clayton scored three goals and had one assist for Brampton.
On Dec. 29, the Battalion set a club record for goals in a game in rolling to a 9-1 victory. Kamil Kreps, Ryan Oulahen and Wojtek Wolski each scored two goals.
The Troops return to the Bunker to meet the Barrie Colts at 7:30 p.m. Friday before hosting the Ottawa 67’s at 2 p.m. Sunday.
