Frontenacs beat Battalion 5-2
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Kingston Frotenacs erupted for three third period goals – including a shorthanded tally – as they beat the visiting Battalion 5-2 at the Memorial Auditorium on Saturday afternoon. The game was televised as part of Global´s OHL Game of the Week series.

Mike Zigomanis scored a goal and added three assists for the Fronts. Cory Stillman, Travis Lizabeth, J.F. Seguin and Brett Clouthier scored the other Kingston goals.

Raffi Torres and Rostislav Klesla scored for the Battalion. Klesla´s goal came early in the third period as the Troops were enjoying a five minute power play after Clouthier had been whistled for the major penalty after cross checking Klesla.

Klesla´s goal extends his points scoring streak to 14 games, which is one behind the club record set two seasons ago by Jason Spezza.

Seconds after Klesla´s goal tied the game, Travis Lizabeth restored the Kingston lead for good with the shorthanded tally.

Raffi Torres also added a helper, giving him 101 goals and 101 assists for his OHL career. Aaron Van Leusen and Kingston native Jay McClement also collected assists.

Final shots on goal favoured the Battalion 36-32.

The Troops will now be idle until next Friday when they travel to Guelph to take on the Storm. The Battalion is still in fourth place in the Western Conference playoff chase, one point ahead of the Windsor Spitfires. The Spits will travel to Mississauga to meet the IceDogs on Sunday afternoon.
