Battalion inks Amidovski
NORTH BAY, Ont. — Right winger Lirim Amidovski has signed a standard player’s agreement, including an education package, with the North Bay Battalion, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Monday.
The Battalion chose Amidovski in the ninth round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection from the Barrie Jr. Colts U16 team, for whom he had 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points in 27 games in 2021-22 before adding four goals and two assists for six points in as many playoff games.
He has played this season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U18s. In 29 regular-season games, he scored 28 goals and earned 12 assists for 40 points with 16 penalty minutes.
The Alliston, Ont., resident, who turned 16 on Dec. 22, measures six feet and 150 pounds.
“Lirim is a guy who stood out to us immediately last year at training camp,” said general manager Adam Dennis. “He was able to play with pace and made it very deep into our process.
“He’s followed it up with an exceptional season being a leading player on one of the top teams in the province. He’ll add to what we feel is a strong 2006-born class.”
Amidovski’s brother, goaltender Aidan Amidovski, was a sixth-round pick by the Guelph Storm in the 2021 Priority Selection.
The Battalion, with a won-lost-extended record of 45-17-3 for 93 points, first in the Central Division, returns to play Thursday night against the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs.
