Larocque traded to Sarnia
NORTH BAY, Ont. — The North Bay Battalion has traded goaltender Charlie Larocque to the Sarnia Sting, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Thursday.
North Bay receives Sarnia’s sixth-round pick in the 2029 OHL Priority Selection for Larocque, a six-foot-three, 181-pound Ottawa native who turned 18 on July 16.
Larocque was the first of two sixth-round picks by the Battalion in 2023 from the Carleton Place Canadians U18s.
In his only appearance this season, he posted a 4-3 overtime win Sept. 19 over the host Sudbury Wolves. In 17 OHL games, including 16 last season, he has a goals-against average of 4.39, a save percentage of .850 and a won-lost-extended record of 4-10-1.
“On behalf of the entire organization, I want to thank Charlie for his dedication and professionalism during his time here,” said John Winstanley, the Battalion’s general manager.
“He was a great member of our team and a great teammate both on and off the ice. We wish him nothing but success as he takes this next step in his career.”
The Battalion roster now numbers 23, made up of two goaltenders, in Mike McIvor and Jack Lisson, eight defencemen and 13 forwards.
The Battalion visits Sudbury at 7:05 p.m. Friday for a game that can be seen live in North Bay on YourTV Channels 12 and 700.
