Battalion signs Brown
NORTH BAY, Ont. — The North Bay Battalion has signed defenceman Devran Brown to an education and development agreement, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Friday.
Brown, a left shot who turned 17 on April 23, was a sixth-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Ottawa Myers Automotive U16s. He stands six-foot-two and weighs 193 pounds.
He has played three games this season with the junior A Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League without registering a point. In 2024-25, he played 46 games with the junior B Arnprior Packers of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League, scoring four goals and adding 14 assists for 18 points, and played five games without a point for the Kemptville 73’s of the junior A Central Canada Hockey League.
Brown was called up from Powassan to play against the host Sudbury Wolves at 7:05 p.m. Friday. The Troops, with four regulars at National Hockey League camps, dressed 11 forwards and seven defencemen Thursday night in a season-opening 4-2 home-ice victory over the Oshawa Generals.
“Devran has earned this opportunity after a great year with Arnprior as well as a solid start to this season with Powassan,” said Adam Dennis, the Battalion’s director of hockey operations.
“While he’ll be playing fulltime with the Voodoos this year, we look forward to developing him into a fulltime Battalion member in the not-too-distant future.”
Rearguard Easton Poe, who played against Oshawa, has returned to the junior A Haliburton County Huskies.
