Voltigeurs’ Mercer suspended six games
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced today that Drummondville Voltigeurs forward, Dawson Mercer, has been suspended for six (6) games for assault.
The rationale
On the sequence, the Voltigeurs player (Dawson Mercer – #19) seems to want to take revenge for an action committed by his opponent and illegally attacks the Foreurs skater (Emil Lessard-Aydin – #13), who is not in possession of the puck. The fact that the head is hit on the play is also considered illegal.
Therefore, for the incident committed on the 2nd of November and considering that the player is not a repeat offender, the QMJHL Department of Player Safety imposed a 6-game suspension to #19, Dawson Mercer, of the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
