The QMJHL hosted the 2018 CHL/NHL Officials Camp
As part of the Canadian Hockey League and the National Hockey League officials development program, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League hosted the 2018 CHL/NHL Referee camp which gathered 16 CHL referees and linesmen from across the country in Laval, Quebec from October 18thto 21st.
The camp’s primary objective is to grow the developing partnership with the NHL Officials Committee which ultimately will lead to developing CHL officials.
The officials were supervised by two NHL referee supervisors, Dan McCourt and Chris Edwards. Their presence allowed CHL referees and linesmen to receive feedback and advice from professional supervisors while helping the NHL add to their recruitment list.
During the event, officials had the opportunity to hear from NHL officials fitness guru, Dave Smith, from NHL referees Eric Furlatt and Michael Markovic, and from former NHL linesman, Jean Morin. Furlatt and Morin are former QMJHL officials.
The CHL/NHL Officials Camp is held annually in the league which hosts the Memorial Cup Tournament.
