Scholastic Players of the Month | Shawn Carrier Profile
Shawn Carrier has been chosen as Moncton Wildcats’ Student of the Month for February. Shawn is a shining example of dedication and excellence in the classroom. Despite the demands of his first year in the QMJHL, he has managed to maintain impressive grades, mostly in the 80s and above, in advanced classes such as Math SN and Physics. As the second-youngest player on the team, Shawn has been a resilient student-athlete and shown remarkable commitment to his education, despite having a very demanding hockey schedule.
Shawn has been a student with Academie les Estacades since he was in Secondaire 1 at the age of twelve. Luckily, after coming to Moncton, he was able to continue his schooling with Academie les Estacades and is currently completing his Secondaire 5 online with them. Having this continuity with his schooling as well as the relationships he has built with the staff at the school has certainly made the transition to online learning more seamless. It has also helped him to manage the difficult task of balancing the life of a student-athlete.
Shawn’s success is not just a result of his intelligence, but also his work ethic and determination. He is a hard worker who is willing to put in the extra hours after hockey practice to keep his marks up. Shawn’s excellent communication skills and willingness to seek help when needed further highlight his commitment to understanding the material. Even at a young age, he is a role model for his peers, demonstrating that with dedication and perseverance, academic success is within reach, even in the midst of a demanding sports career.
