QMJHL unveils nominees for 2022 Frank-J.-Selke Trophy
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced today the three finalists for the Frank J.-Selke Trophy which acknowledges the most sportsmanlike player. These finalists are Jordan Dumais of the Halifax Mooseheads, Justin Robidas of the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Joshua Roy of the Sherbrooke Phœnix.
To be considered for this award, a player must prove his efficiency on the ice, demonstrate the utmost respect for opponents and officials as well as avoid the penalty box.
Jordan Dumais surprised most QMJHL experts this year by posting a tremendous 109-point season. The Ile-Bizard, QC native scored 39 goals and added 70 assists in 68 games for the Mooseheads. Moreover, the 2022 NHL Draft prospect only spent six minutes in the penalty box.
As for Val-d’Or Foreurs captain Justin Robidas, he showed off his strong skills on the ice and only spent 12 minutes in the penalty box. He scored 30 goals and added 52 assists in 68 regular season games.
Joshua Roy was one of the star players in the QMJHL this season, finishing as the league’s top scorer (119 points). He also demonstrated great leadership and discipline on and off the ice. The Montreal Canadiens prospect only recorded 22 penalty minutes while being one of the most used forwards for the Phœnix.
