QMJHL reveals finalists for Guy-Carbonneau Trophy
The QMJHL continues its virtual presentation of its Golden Pucks with the finalists for the Guy-Carbonneau Trophy, awarded to the Top Defensive Forward.
The finalists are:
Félix Gagnon, Baie-Comeau Drakkar
In his fourth season with Baie-Comeau, Gagnon has been used by head coach Jean-François Grégoire in all situations. A staple in short-handed situations, he led the league with four assists under such circumstances. He also finished first in the league with a 64% efficiency in the face-off circle, winning 882 (2nd) of his 1,378 duels (3rd). All this while recording 58 points (21-37) and a +43 differential, the seventh-highest in the QMJHL.
Nikita Prishchepov, Victoriaville Tigres
The Tigres’ fifth-highest scorer with 67 points (22-45) in 63 games, Prishchepov did much more than fill the scoresheet this season. He was Carl Mallette’s most trusted man in the face-off circle, winning 54.2% of his face-offs (548 in 1011). Furthermore, in shorthanded situations, he managed five goals and eight points, both good for second in the QMJHL, behind only Lou-Félix Denis (8-1-9).
Anthony Turcotte, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies
A 20-year-old veteran, Turcotte set personal bests this season with 16 goals, 32 assists, 48 points and a +35 rating. In particular, he collected two goals and an assist on the penalty kill. Turcotte was also a machine at the face-off dot, winning 746 (4th in the league) of his 1236 duels (6th), for an efficiency of 60.4% that was good for third overall in the QMJHL.
