Slight decrease in overall attendance figures
BOUCHERVILLE, Friday, February 8, 2008 The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today revealed its latest attendance report for the 2007-08 season. The statistics show that overall attendance is down 0.3% compared to last year. Indeed, after 466 regular season games, the QMJHL is averaging 3,499 fans per contest, which translates into 10 less spectators per game.
Nevertheless, seven markets have noticed hikes in attendance. The most dramatic increases have been observed in Victoriaville (+12.5%), Quebec City (+11.1%) and Shawinigan (+10.2%). The Rouyn-Noranda (+6.3%), Cape Breton (+6.1%), Halifax (+3.2%) and Saint John (+2.1) markets are also on the rise.
The biggest drops have been witnessed in Moncton (-16.1%) and PEI (-10.2%).
