Quick hits with Huskies forward Hugo Carpentier

BOUCHERVILLE, Saturday, February 24, 2007 – This week, the official website of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League presents an interview with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies forward Hugo Carpentier.

<i>You’ve been playing in the QMJHL for three seasons. In which area has your game progressed the most?</i>

"It’s definitely on the defensive side. André (Tourigny) puts a lot of emphasis on team defence. Also, I’ve become much faster on my skates, which is essential if I want to pursue a pro career."

<i>How close are you to reaching that goal?</i>

"Well, like every player, I’d like to one day play in the National Hockey League. I’ll take it one step at a time and try to earn an American Hockey League contract. I don’t foresee playing in Europe, but if I receive a serious offer, I’ll have to think about it."

<i>What message has head coach André Tourigny tried to get across to you as the playoffs approach?</i>

"That each and every player needs to give it 100% – it’s our trademark. Also, we’re trying to get home-ice advantage in the playoffs. Finally, he wants us to remind the other clubs that we’re a dominant team."

<i>What do you think is your best asset?</i>

"I don’t think I excel in one particular area. I think I’m good at a lot of things. I have good qualities in the offensive zone and I play well defensively."

<i>Which team has given you the hardest time this year?</i>

"In previous years, we had a lot of trouble against Gatineau, but this year, for reasons I can’t explain, it’s Drummondville."
