Titan unable to solve Olympiques
Bathurst, NB – Playing in their first of two consecutive games, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan played host the Gatineau Olympiques. Currently ranked as the fifth best team in Canada, Gatineau came to town having only one lost to their record, and after a hard fought game, they skated away with a 2-0 victory.
After the game, Benoit Groulx’s team certainly must have given their goaltender, Bo Taylor, a big round of applause, as the 18 year-old netminder was the star of the game. Not only did he pick up a shutout, but he did so by turning away some dangerous shots, especially during the final minutes of the third period.
At the other end of the ice, Titan goaltender Reilly Pickard had a strong showing, silencing the top offense in the league, as only Alexandre Carrier and Yan Pavel Laplante were able to sneak a puck past him. Pickard completed his night with 27 saves, while Taylor had 33.
Kuznetsov, Simpson and Miromanov… an impressive line
The three Titan forwards whom were first united on Sunday’s game skated together once more, and they were impressive in more ways than one. First and foremost, the sheer size they each bring to the table, coming at 6’1, 6’5 and 6’2 respectively, and second, for their prowess in the offensive zone. While they were unable to light the lamp on this night, they did combine for an impressive total of eight shots on net.
Brisebois and Francis together again
First paired to complete last season together, Titan defensemen Guillaume Brisebois and Elijah Francis were paired together once more and made an immediate impact. Together they fired six shots on net and picked up two body checks. They also completed their night with an even plus-minus differential, thus silencing the top offense in the league.
Back in action tomorrow night
The Titan will be back in action tomorrow night, as they face-off against the Shawinigan Cataractes. The team from the “city of energy” was in attendance for tonight’s match-up, and if there was a conclusion for them, it surely was that they best be ready to play their best hockey if they wish to claim victory.
Furthermore, the Men In Black Revival musical band will be on hand at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre to offer their talents before the game and during intermissions. A local favorite, the Men In Black Revival was the group present at the Bathurst Waterfront that had Titan players dancing back in August.
Determined to offer a world class in game experience, the Titan are proud to offer such innovations to their fans. Tickets are available at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre box office, by phone at 549-3200 or 1-877-549-3200 or online at admission.com
