#WomensDay – Acadie-Bathurst | Monique Boudreau
This year, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan would like to recognize Monique Boudreau, Titan Billet Coordinator on International Women’s Day for the impact she has on our team and their families.
Part of being drafted by a Major Junior Hockey Team entails sacrifices. For many, it means moving away from home for the first time, some as young as 16 years old. In some cases, the player has to deal with learning a new language. Monique puts forth countless hours pairing every player with their perfect billet family and makes the transition of moving away from home for the first time seem effortless. Every player gets placed with a family that she believes is the best fit. Most often she pairs European players with former teachers, giving the players the opportunity to practice and learn a new language while making the move and transition to a new country less intimidating.
Seeing the bonds that form between our players and their billet families, is priceless. Nothing makes Monique happier than seeing all the Titan jerseys in the rink complete with a name bar sported by our billet families, the photos of a family game night or the countless stories told by the billet families makes her role as Billet Coordinator so rewarding.
Monique is not only the Billet Coordinator for the Titan, but she is also a billet mom herself. The players become part of your family; they become one of your sons. Even after they finish their hockey career with the Titan, you still mean so much to them. As a billet, you play a huge role in the development of these young men, and their mothers can’t thank you enough for always being there for their son, and cheering him on and supporting him when she couldn’t be there.
The billet home becomes a player’s second home, and the community becomes a second hometown. Thank you, Monique Boudreau, for being part of our team, and for always making every players experience in Bathurst a memorable one!
