Wildcats announce changes
MONCTON N.B. – The Moncton Wildcats announce that both Assistant Coach Erin King, and Goaltending Coach Scott Munroe, will not be returning for the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Scott has a young family at home in the United States that he has been away from for two years now, and will be looking for opportunities in hockey that will allow him to be closer to home. Erin King will also be moving back home to Halifax with his young family and will evaluate his options moving forward.
Scott Munroe had this to say about his time in Moncton. “I would like to thank the Moncton Wildcats organization for giving me the opportunity to begin my coaching career. I will not be able to return next season due to family reasons. It is an exciting time for the Wildcats and I wish the team and entire staff the best this summer and beyond, and would like to thank them for everything they have done.”
“I would like to thank the Moncton Wildcats for the opportunity to grow my coaching career, I respect their decision to go another direction and wish them nothing but the best. I look forward to continuing a career in coaching and new opportunities that may arise.” said Erin King.
Prior to joining the Wildcats Scott was still playing as a goaltender in the AHL, where he spent seven seasons; he also played in the Swedish Elite League and the KHL. Erin came to the Wildcats after serving as Assistant Coach and Assistant Hockey School Director with the StFX University men’s hockey team for four seasons . King was also a scout for the Wildcats during the 2014-2015 season in Nova Scotia.
“Erin has a great future in whatever he chooses, he is passionate, committed and very organized and will be a real asset to any organization.” said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon.
“Scott had a great two years with us working with young and older goalies and was a real pleasure to have on staff. Scott’s family is in the USA, and family has to come first.” said Roger Shannon. We wish them both all the best in the future.
Both Scott and Erin joined the team at the beginning of the 2015-2016 season and have spent two full seasons here in Moncton. On behalf of the entire Moncton Wildcats organization we would like to pass along our sincere appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication that these two have given to our team.
