The 17-year-old forward from Saint John NB was drafted 10th overall in 2016 by the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Standing at 6’2 and weighing 205lbs he is a power forward that will be an impactful asset to the lineup. During his rookie season last year with the Phoenix he recording an impressive 41 points (29 goals and 12 assists) in 50 games played.
“I am very excited to join the Wildcats, they are a great organization and I can’t wait to get started,” said Anderson. “I had a good season last year but will look to continually improve and hope to make a big impact and help the team as much as I can. Anderson is a power forward with big offensive ability who likes to shoot the puck and will look to put up some strong numbers this season.
Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon had this to say about the transaction. “Anderson is the kind of player we have been looking for. Putting up 29 goals in his first season in the QMJHL as a 16-year-old was very impressive and he is a top goal scoring forward the team was looking to add. He has a big year ahead and we couldn’t be more excited to add a player of his caliber to the roster before the season has even started.”
Anderson was also a member of the most recent Canadian team to win the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament this summer. “It is always a privilege to wear the maple leaf and represent Canada. It was a great experience to be able to play against the best in the world and I learned a lot from other guys and our coaching staff that will help me in the years ahead.”
Welcome to Moncton Anderson and we look forward to a great season ahead!
