Who will succeed to Jonathan Fauchon?
The 2025-2026 QMJHL season will begin on September 18, when the Newfoundland Regiment will play its inaugural game in St. John’s against Moncton. Who will succeed Jonathan Fauchon as the league’s scoring champion?
In his 20-year-old season, split between Blainville-Boisbriand and Rimouski, Fauchon led his peers with 103 points. That’s why he was recruited in the NCAA, with Providence College.
Four other 20-year-olds finished in the Top 10 in scoring last season and are therefore out of the equation this year: Antonin Verreault (4th) of the Huskies, Luke Woodworth (T-5th) of the Voltigeurs, Matyas Melovsky (T-7th) of the Drakkar and Noah Reinhart (T-10th) of the Foreurs.
The scoring title could therefore land in the hands of Justin Carbonneau, of the Armada, Philippe Veilleux, of the Foreurs, or Bill Zonnon, who moved from the Huskies to the Armada this summer.
Carbonneau finished second last year with 89 points, including 46 goals. Veilleux was third with 87 points, while Zonnon was seventh with 83 points. All three will be in their “18-year-old season” in 2025-2026.
Speaking of 18-year-olds, Caleb Desnoyers of the Moncton Wildcats finished fifth in scoring last season with 84 points. But he recently had wrist surgery and may not be back until mid-November. So we’re talking about at least 15 games missed…
Another interesting candidate to lead the scoring race is another Armada player, Vincent Desjardins (9th), who amassed 81 points in 2025-2026.
Obviously, any other player could explode and take the scoring lead. We will know more by the end of March. May the best man win!
