Videotron Player of the Week | Jules Boilard (September 25, 2023)
The first Videotron Player of the Week for the 2023-24 season is Baie-Comeau Drakkar winger Jules Boilard. In a pair of road games, the 18-year-old from Sherbrooke, Quebec scored twice and added four assists to help the Drakkar get off to a perfect 2-0-0-0 start to the campaign.
In Chicoutimi on Friday night, Boilard kick started his QMJHL career with two goals and an assist in the first period alone! He would add a third period helper in the Drakkar’s 5-4 back-and-forth triumph over the Saguenéens. The talented forward wrapped up his first regular season outing by earning first star honors.
The following afternoon in Quebec, Boilard continued his roll, chalking up a pair of assists, including a helper on the eventual game winning marker with under six minutes remaining in the second period. His contributions helped the Drakkar spoil the season opener for the defending Memorial Cup Champions with a 5-3 decision over the Remparts.
Originally a fourth-round selection of Rimouski at the 2021 QMJHL Draft, Boilard was acquired by the Drakkar from the Oceanic during last June’s draft weekend. He split last season between the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL, where he posted 15 points in 45 games.
