Third period comeback nets Titan 30th win of the season in Moncton
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan won for just the second time this season when trailing after two periods, exploding for three third period goals to secure a four-to-three come-from-behind victory over the Moncton Wildcats on Wednesday night.
19-year-old forward Daniil Miromanov led the way with a pair of goals with singles coming from Christophe Boivin and the eventual game-winning goal from Vladimir Kuznetsov. Julien Tessier, Anthony Wojcik and Mika Cyr replied for the Wildcats.
Anthony Dumont-Bouchard won his third-straight decision in net for the Titan stopping 23 of 26 shots faced to improve his record to 15-8 while Matthew Waite allowed four goals on 40 shots seeing his record fall to 5-15.
With no scoring in the first period, Tessier opened the scoring or the Wildcats on the power play at the mid-way point of the period. Miromanov would break free of the Moncton defence off a pass from Félix Boivin for his 18th of the season with 7:35 remaining in the second. The game would remain tied for just over a minute when Wojcik gave the Wildcats their lead back to send the home side into the intermission up 2-1.
The Titan stormed out of the gate in the third period, scoring three goals in the span of a minute and 51 seconds with Boivin scoring his 33rd unassisted to tie the game, followed by Miromanov notching his second of the game and 19th of the season off a diving pass from Dawson Theede on a play created by Samuel L’Italien. Vladimir Kuznetsov would beat out the Moncton defender off a lob pass by Christophe Boivin and beat Waite for his 18th of the season to make it 4-2 for the Titan. Adam Holwell also picked up an assist. Cyr would bring the Wildcats within one just past the mid-way point of the third, but the Titan would play shut-down defence the rest of the way to take home the 4-3 victory.
