REGULAR SEASON SUMMARY
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles finished fourth in the Maritimes Division and 12th overall in the QMJHL, posting 72-point season thanks to a 32-28-8 record. Head coach Marc-Andre Dumont’s squad flashed their share of offensive fire power, finishing seventh in goals scored (235) and 14th in goals against (259). The Screaming Eagles scored 68 goals on the power play to finish fifth in that category league-wide, while placing eighth in penalty killing. Along with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, the Screaming Eagles were the only other franchise that saw three of their rookies crack the 30-point mark, as the trio of Egor Sokolov (42 pts), Brooklyn Kamikov (36 pts) and Ryan Francis (32 pts) managed the feat. Sokolov was passed in the point category by Phélix Martineau who had a team-leading 66 points, including 18 points over an 11-game point streak. In the crease, Kyle Jessiman and Kevin Mandolese shared the goaltending duties, picking up 17 and 15 wins, respectively. It is to be noted that general manager Marc-Andre Dumont traded veteran sniper Drake Batherson to the Armada over the holiday trade period in exchange for a first round pick in 2020 and two young 18-year-old players.
