Remparts edge Mooseheads in Game 4 to take 3-1 series lead in Final
The Quebec Remparts are one win away from their first playoff championship since 1976. Goals by Théo Rochette and Zachary Bolduc were all the offense the visitors needed as the Remparts skated away from the Scotiabank Center with a 2-1 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday night.
Evan Boucher scored for the Mooseheads, who received a valiant 30-save effort from Mathis Rousseau between the pipes. Down the other end, William Rousseau made 26 stops to help Quebec to a victory.
The first period featured a dominating effort from the road team. The Remparts outshot the Mooseheads 20-6 through 20 minutes and already held a 7-0 lead on the shot clock when they opened the scoring at the 2:54 mark. After a prolonged period of pressure, Rochette collected a loose puck and netted his fourth tally of the postseason with a spinning shot from the hashmarks. Though the Moose gained some measure of momentum in the latter stages of the frame, only the play of Mathis Rousseau kept the score 1-0 heading into the first intermission.
The Mooseheads rebounded to knot things up at one in the second period. After having a goal disallowed due to a hand pass earlier in the frame, the home side would finally strike back at 11:53. Boucher, collected the puck off the side wall, walked in, toe dragged around the defender and beat William Rousseau with a heavy wrister for his fifth of the postseason. Halifax earned a 9-7 edge in shots in the middle period.
The game-winning goal came more than a full period later when Bolduc put the Remparts ahead for good at the 13:11 mark of the third. Rochette first dangled through a few Halifax players as he entered the zone before sliding the puck over for Bolduc to one-time his tenth of the playoffs. Halifax again outshot the Remparts in the final frame, this time by an 11-5 advantage.
The scene now shifts back to Quebec City, where the Remparts will host the Mooseheads in Game 5 of the championship series on Friday night. It all ramps up again at Centre Videotron starting at 7pm ET/8pm AT.
