Our 20s: Shawinigan Cataractes
Only one 20-year-old was on the young Shawinigan Cataractes roster when they lost in the first playoff round in April: Tristan Roy.
A big 6’1″, 201 lb. forward, Roy won the LM18AAAQ championship with the Magog Cantonniers in 2018-2019. A few weeks later, he was drafted in the second round, 19th overall, by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Roy split his 16-year season between Magog (21 games) and Bathurst (18), before being traded to Victoriaville prior to the 2020-2021 season. He played just nine games with the Tigres before being moved to the Drummondville Voltigeurs, where he became a good utility player.
After seasons of 22 and 27 points with Drummond, Roy was transferred to Shawinigan in November 2023, and with the Cataractes, he collected 20 points in 44 games, while wearing an A on his jersey.
After collecting 83 points in 253 QMJHL games, Roy will continue his career with the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) Patriotes next year.
Good luck, Tris!
