Olivier Nadeau named Olympiques captain
The Gatineau Olympiques organization announced Friday that forward Olivier Nadeau has been named captain. Nadeau succeeds Manix Landry as captain of the Olympiques.
Zach Dean, Isaac Belliveau and Tristan Luneau will act as assistants.
The Lac-Etchemin native was acquired in a trade at the 2022 QMJHL draft.
Since making his QMJHL debut in the 2019-2020 season with the Shawinigan Cataractes, Nadeau has scored 79 goals in 175 games. He has had a season of 20 or more goals, including a QMJHL career high of 35 goals in 2021-2022.
“We are happy to have a player like Olivier Nadeau in our leadership group. From the moment he arrived, we felt that he was a player with a lot of determination. He is on a mission, and his experience will be an asset to our team to achieve the goals that the organization has set.” – Louis Robitaille
In 18 games in a Gatineau uniform, the forward has 16 goals and 10 assists for a total of 26 points.
In the 2021-2022 season, Nadeau helped his team reach the Memorial Cup tournament after winning the President Cup.
The 20-year-old fourth round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2021 is looking to bring his experience to the team and help them reach the top.
“It is an honor for me to be named captain of an organization with 50 years of history, and with such a glorious past. It is definitely a challenge and an additional motivation to act as a leader of such a mature and aspiring group.” – Olivier Nadeau
