Jordan Dumais of the Halifax Mooseheads is the QMJHL’s Most Valuable Player
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is proud to present the Michel-Brière Trophy to Halifax Mooseheads forward Jordan Dumais. The award is presented annually to the player who is deemed to be the Most Valuable Player in the league.
The award is named after Michel Brière, who unfortunately passed away after just one season in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Many NHL greats have claimed this award during their time in the QMJHL, including Dale Hawerchuk, Mario Lemieux, Denis Savard and Sidney Crosby.
A Columbus Blue Jackets prospect, Dumais claims the award after a standout season that saw him capture the QMJHL scoring title with 140 points in just 64 games. The 19-year-old finished third in the league in goals with 54, while leading the entire circuit with 86 assists. Dumais also paced the league with 12 game-winning goals and finished second with 19 power play markers. The Île Bizard, Quebec native had an undeniable impact in helping the Mooseheads win the Maritimes Division title, while finishing second in the overall standings.
With a league-best 2.19 point-per-game average and only six penalty minutes to his name, Dumais’ excellent season had many people talking.
“As a proud partner of the CHL and presenting sponsor of the Memorial Cup, Kia is excited to congratulate Jordan Dumais of the Halifax Mooseheads as the QMJHL’s Most Valuable Player,” said Michael Kopke, Director of Marketing for Kia Canada. “At Kia, we believe in movement that inspires, and Jordan exemplifies this in his play. We can’t wait to see more of him on the ice for years to come!”
