After going 0-2-1 following the closing of the trade period, the Charlottetown Islanders were hungry for a win on Friday night against the visiting Moncton Wildcats.
A number of the newest Islanders had big nights offensively in the 8-3 routing of the last place Wildcats.

Filip Chlapik – 2 goals, 1 assist
Guillaume Brisebois – 1 goal, 2 assists
Alex Dostie – 1 goal, 2 assists
Francois Beauchemin – 3 assists

Spring’s two goals were his first of the 2016/17 season.
Mark Grametbauer picked up his second win in the Islanders net, making 26 saves on 29 shots.
After the win, Alex Dostie, who scored his first goal as an Islander tonight and 16th of the season, said playing simpler was a big key to the win tonight.
“We were to fancy the three other games and I think we wanted to play as a team and play simple,” said Dostie. “We’ve bonded as a team and the guys are super nice here so we just need to understand the structure and things will go well.”
After getting that first goal as an Islander, Dostie said he felt some relief.
“It felt really good and now the first is done so I can think about my game, play simple and it’s all going to come together.”
The Islanders improve to 25-14-2-0 and continue to sit 5th in the league standings.
They are right back at it tomorrow night when they take on the Victoriaville Tigres at home. 7pm at the Eastlink Centre!
