Islanders spoil Foreurs trip to the Island with 7-1 win
In a makeup game that was originally scheduled for December 3rd, the Islanders trounced the Val-d’Or Foreurs 7-1.
Kameron Kielly scored four times (22,23,24,25) and Daniel Sprong scored two (5,6) in the win. William Bower (10) also scored once in the victory.
Filip Chlapik also had a big game, tallying four assists. Gregor MacLeod and Francois Beauchemin had two assists each.
Ivan Kozlov scored for the Foreurs in the third period, spoiling Mark Grametbauer’s shutout.
The final shots on goal were 39-22 for Charlottetown.
It didn’t take long for the Islanders to strike in front of their home crowd.
Daniel Sprong scored just 3:38 into the game with a blast from the slot that went top shelf:
Kameron Kielly scored exactly 20 seconds later to make it 2-0.
Less than two minutes later, William Bower scored. Less than 6 minutes in, the Islanders led 3-0.
In the second period, Sprong added his second (see below) while Kielly scored twice.
Kielly eventually added his fourth in the third period, with only 17 seconds left (see below):
This was the only stop for the Foreurs on their trip to the Maritimes. The game originally scheduled for December 3rd was cancelled after Val-d’Or had travel issues and couldn’t make it to Charlottetown.
The Islanders pick up their 30th win of the season in the process and jump to 4th in league standings with 63 points.
