Hinds named Defensive Defenseman of the Year
Sherbrooke Phœnix defenseman Tyson Hinds is the recipient of the 2022-23 Kevin-Lowe Trophy, which is awarded annually to the QMJHL’s top defensive defenseman.
The trophy is named after Quebec Remparts alumnus Kevin Lowe, who most notably won six Stanley Cups and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2021.
Hinds, a native of Gatineau, had an outstanding season, scoring 11 goals and adding 43 assists in 56 regular season games. He was stellar in his own end, helping his team finish with the second fewest goals allowed. The 20-year-old also finished the campaign sitting second in the league with an impressive +61 ratio. A third-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Hinds’ recognition as the QMJHL’s top defensive defenseman is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game.
