Community Involvement | Nicolas Ouellet (Foreurs)
With over 200 games played in a Foreurs uniform, Nicolas Ouellet has become an important figure in the Val-d’Or community.
The 21-year-old veteran made the most of his final major junior season to leave a lasting positive impact on the community. In order to do so, he took part in numerous social activities with the Foreurs.
During McDonald’s Dream Day, he showed plenty of interest in the young participants during the practice portion, the visits and the meal they shared. He took the time to interact with them, to answer their questions and to put them at ease. Ouellet is also one of the few players who supports McHappy Day, which is held annually after the playoffs.

The player who’s fearless on the ice is also unafraid of the cold Abitibi winter days since he was proud to take part in this past winter’s Grande Guignolée des Médias (Media Holiday Food Drive). The Foreurs forward was also the only player on the team who donated blood during Héma-Quebec’s 2019 Blood Drive.

Ouellet is very involved with the community’s youth. He’s a sponsor for the Islanders, a local minor hockey team, and he actively took part in the team’s elementary school tour. Ouellet is always proud to spend time with the kids, most notably during Phys Ed classes with kids from the Pavillon d’Or School, when he went public skating with the Fatima School students or when he gave a speech at the Ste-Marie School.

Nicolas is also very appreciated for his daily involvement with his billet family. He takes part in the cleaning chores, respects the house rules and takes care of the family’s dog. On occasion, he also drives the children around to different activities, is on hand to cheer them on when they play sports and he always chats with them at home.
