The Wildcats rallied back after trailing 3-0 early in the first period to win it in overtime 5-4 against the Charlottetown Islanders!
Charlottetown dominated the first half of period one with three goals in the early going of the game. Jacob Sweeney turned that around at the midway point of the period when he put up the first Wildcats goal of the night, which was also our Teddy Bear Toss goal! Not long after, Kevin Klima and Conor Garland both scored to round out the period at 3-3 a side.
Charlottetown went back on the board in the third on a power play goal from Oliver Cooper, his second of the night.
Zack MacEwen would respond, registering his 8th of the season to tie the game. This one would end up needing overtime. Moncton had some great chances in the overtime frame and it looked as though this game would be heading to a shootout, but in the dying seconds Austin Kosack buried the game winning goal at 4:43 on a feed from Manuel Wiederer to give the Cats the win!
Moncton outshot Charlottetown 38-34. Keven Bouchard entered the game at 7:50 of the first period and turned away 25 shots from the Islanders in the win.
Thank you to everyone who brought a teddy bear to tonight’s game for our Teddy Bear Toss. The Wildcats will head to Cape Breton next week, then they are off to Quebec on the weekend to meet Sherbrooke and Drummondville. Their next home games are January 30th and 31st, it is also Timbit Tournament weekend at the Coliseum!
