Wildcats dumped by the Eagles in Overtime
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles beat the Moncton Wildcats, for the 1st time this season, using overtime to upset the Cats 4-3 in Sydney Wednesday night.
Raphael Corriveau’s goal 2:34 into the extra period sent the Wildcats to their 2nd overtime loss of the season. Moncton lead 2-1 after the 1st but trailed 3-2 entering the 3rd.
Yannick Veilleux ‘s powerplay goal in the 3rd sent the game to overtime. Dmitrij Jaskin (1g 1a) and Alex Saulnier (1g 1a) also scored as the Wildcats outshot the Eagles 38-25.
Bryce Milson, Justin Hache and Charles-Eric Legare replied for Cape Breton. David Honzik (3rd star) collected the win, Cole Holowenko suffered the loss.
Wildcats continue on the road Friday when they play in Halifax vs the Mooseheads. The Wildcats and Mooseheads also meet Sunday afternoon at the Moncton Coliseum.
