Moncton, NB – The Moncton Wildcats showed a lot of character Friday night by coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the first period but still lost to the Rimouski Océanic 5-4 in a shootout.

Michael Frolik and Olivier Fortier (2) scored the first three Rimouski goals, two of them on the power play. The Wildcats answered back with two goals before the end of the period, Mark Barberio at 16:57 and Matt Marquardt 18:08.

Randy Cameron tied the game at 2:35 of the second period but Philippe Cornet scored at 16:29 to give the Océanic a 4-3 lead after two.

Jesse Biduke registered his 4th of the season for the Wildcats at 15:07 of the third period to bring the game to overtime. Both teams took 4 shots on goal in the overtime period but weren’t able to score.

Michael Frolik and David Skokan gave Rimouski the extra point in the shootout. Only Phil Mangan was able to beat Michael Dupont.
