Tigres down Wildcats 5-2
VICTORIAVILLE-Three unaswered goals in the second period, two of them by Mark Trickett proved to be the difference as the Victoriaville Tigres downed the Moncton Wildcats 5-2 before just over 22 hundred Friday night at Colisee Desjardins. Moncton is now 2-3 for the season
It was 2-1 after the first period as Ryan Penny scored his third of the year for Moncton off a picture perfect pass from Stephen Johnson and Jacob Sweeney sandwiched between Tigres goals by Angelo Micelli and Gilbert Gagne. Trickett’s two goals in the first half of the second padded the lead and Yan Mandat’s shorthanded marker gave Victoriaville a four goal lead after two. Garrett Johnston’s slap shot got the Wildcats to within 3 just past the midway mark of the final stanza.
Graham Hunt made 24 saves in his first QMJHL start for Moncton. The Wildcats outshot Victoriaville 31-29 on the night, but were an ineffective 0-5 on the power play. Moncton is right back in action on Saturday afternoon at 5 as they bus down the highway to Drummondville.
