Rumble Named Assistant Coach of Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team
MONCTON N.B. – For the second year in a row, Moncton Wildcats Head Coach Darren Rumble has been named as Assistant Coach for the Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team.
After capturing a gold medal with last year’s group at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in the Czech Republic, Rumble will look to repeat history again this summer. The tournament is set to take place mid-August in the Czech Republic; the official tournament dates are yet to be released.
This year’s U-18 coaching staff will consist of head coach Paul McFarland, assistant coach Darren Rumble and assistant coach Mark French. All three coaches have been coaching in the CHL for a few season and will bring great knowledge and experience with them. Paul McFarland has spent the past two seasons coaching the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL. Mark French has been head coach of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen for the past two seasons, while Wildcats head coach Darren Rumble will be entering his fourth season with the team this year.
“I am very excited to once again have the opportunity to represent Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup again this summer,” said Rumble. “Last year I had a fantastic experience, this is an exciting tournament for these players as this is the first event of their draft year. I am looking forward to coaching some of the best players in Canada and working with an excellent group of coaches and staff.”
