Nine is fine as Cats win again
SAINT JOHN-The Moncton Wildcats extended their winning streak to 9 straight games with a 5-4 triumph over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday night. The Wildcats now lead the Rivalry Cup 4-1 heading into the second part of the home and home series on Sunday afternoon at the Moncton Coliseum.
The teams were tied at 1 after one with Chris Caissy scoring a power play goal for Moncton. Second period goals by Will Smith and Ryan Penny gave the Wildcats a two goal lead heading to the third. Steve Johnson and then Christophe Lalonde with the eventual game winner scored in a back and forth third period. Moncton played the game with just five defenseman and got a huge effort from both Jacob Sweeney and Garrett Johnston in particular.
Moncton sits second in the Maritime division, five points behind Halifax and three ahead of Cape Breton.
