Mooseheads outlast Wildcats
In a playoff-like type of game, the Halifax Mooseheads outlasted the Moncton Wildcats 3-1 Friday night at the Metro Center.
It was hard hitting, it was tight checking and it wasn’t decided until Darcy Ashley scored into the empty net with 54 seconds left. Luca Ciampini (2nd star) and Liam Alcalde netted the other Moosehead goals, while Dmitrij Jaskin (3rd star) was the only Moncton scorer.
Zachary Fucale (1st star) was solid stopping 34 of 35 Moncton shots. The tandem of Alex Dubeau and Cole Holowenko faced 22. Dubeau was injuried (day to day) at the end of the 1st and was replaced by Holowenko to start the 2nd.
Moncton went 1 for 4 on the powerplay, while Halifax was 0-4.
The same two teams meet Sunday afternoon, this time, at the Moncton Coliseum. Game time is 4pm.
