Matt Klebanskyj to Shawinigan
MONCTON N.B. – The Moncton Wildcats have traded defenceman Matthew Klebanskyj to the Shawinigan Cataractes in exchange for a sixth round draft pick in next year’s QMJHL entry draft.
Kelbanskyj was acquired by the Wildcats during the 2013-2014 season. Prior to coming to Moncton, the Quebec native played 12 games with the Cataractes over the 2012-2013 & 2013-2014 seasons.
During Matt’s time in Moncton he played in 125 games, recording 24 points and 147 penalty minutes. Roger Shannon had this to say about the decision “trading Matt Klebanskyj is one of the harder things we have had to do as a staff for a while. Matt has been a real warrior for us. We have two young defencemen that need to play, and for Matt, the idea as a 19 year-old not getting to play every day doesn’t fit well with anyone.” We would like to wish Matt all the best in Shawinigan, and thank him for his time with the Wildcats.
