Charlottetown edges Moncton 3-2 in Shootout
MONCTON-The Moncton Wildcats perfect record when going into the third period with a lead came to an end on Saturday night. The Charlottetown Islanders tied it in the third and won it in the shootout 3-2 before 3701 at the Coliseum.
Moncton led 2-1 after one after goals by Jacob Sweeney and Lucas Batt. It stayed that way until a powerplay goal bby Anthony Cortese with under 7 minutes to go tied it. Both goaltenders were stellar this night but Eric Brassard backed up his 37 saves with three more in the shootout, while the Islanders beat Alex Dubeau for one in the skills competition to take the victory. Dubeau made 30 stops in the match.
Moncton has a few days off before they take on Baie Comeau next Friday night.
