2020 Draft Revisited: 3rd, 4th, 5th Round Picks
With the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft now exactly one week away, it’s time to revisit more of our 2020 draft class. Today we look at our selections in rounds three, four, and five.
Cameron MacLean • Round 3, 53rd Overall
After splitting last season between Stanstead College and the Charlottetown Knights, MacLean returned to the NB/PEI Major U18 Hockey League this season for another year with the Knights. In eight games the five-foot-11 winger registered nine goals and seven assists for 16 points, good for seventh in league scoring. He also added 10 points in four playoff games and was named MVP of the Knights.
Carter Ansems • Round 5, 77th Overall
The big six-foot-seven defenceman put together a strong sophomore season in the NSU18MHL with the Valley Wildcats posting 16 points in 27 games. Ansems also had two points in four playoff games.
Jack Howatt • Round 5, 86th Overall
In his second season with the Charlottetown Knights, Howatt posted a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .955 save percentage while helping the Knights capture the PEI championship. The six-foot-one, 174-pound netminder was also recalled by the Titan back in November for a one week stint while the team dealt with injuries between the pipes, however Howatt did not see any game action.
