DOGS HIT THE ROAD FOR BACK-TO-BACK GAMES

The Sea Dogs are back on the road for three more games, including back-to-back nights this weekend. Saint John (42-5-1-2) travels to Moncton to take on the Wildcats (26-18-2-4) at 7:30 p.m. tonight, then it’s the Halifax Mooseheads (17-31-1-2) Saturday, a 7 p.m. start.
The Dogs can all but clinch the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup with a win over the Wildcats tonight. They hold a 19-6 lead, with a maximum of 20 possible points left for Moncton to grab, including the EA Sports NHL 11 Video Game Challenge set for Feb. 15 at Boston Pizza. Saint John has taken all five meetings between the clubs, including a 4-3 win last Friday in Moncton, led by Jonathan Huberdeau’s two goals.
Halifax, meanwhile, has been near the bottom of the standings for the third straight season. The Sea Dogs have won all six matchups, including a 9-2 explosion at the Halifax Metro Centre on Jan. 8 that saw Huberdeau rack up five points while Michael Kirkpatrick had two goals and two assists.
