Sea Dogs Trade Drover to Rimouski For Trio of Draft Picks
The Saint John Sea Dogs announced today the acquisition of a trio of draft picks from the Rimouski Océanic in exchange for forward Alex Drover.
Saint John receives Gatineau’s 2nd round and 10th round picks in 2022 and Rimouski’s 4th round pick in 2023.
One of 12 2002-born players on the Sea Dogs, Team President & General Manager, Trevor Georgie says Alex will now have more opportunities with the Océanic.
“Alex is a great young man and we wanted to give him the opportunity play a more meaningful role on a new team. I want to thank Alex and his family for the time that they put in and commitment to the team, and we look forward to watching from a distance as Alex’s career progresses. We wish him lots of success with his new club.”
Drover was acquired by the Sea Dogs during the 2018-19 Christmas trade period from the Cape Breton Eagles. In 85 games with the Sea Dogs, he had eight goals and eleven assists.
“With the addition of Simon Hughes and other possible roster moves, we wanted to make sure that we give our players adequate room to develop,” added Georgie. “We have a lot of depth in the organization and this allows us to create more balance in our age groups.”
The QMJHL trade period closes on January 25th.
