RECAP: Sea Dogs shut out for second straight game
CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – For the second straight game, the Saint John Sea Dogs ran into a strong goaltender as Donald Hickey stopped all 24 shots in a dominant performance for the Charlottetown Islanders on Sunday afternoon. The Sea Dogs ultimately dropped their final road game of the regular season 4-0.
Pavel Simek, Kyle Powers, Ethan Montroy, and William Shields each found the back of the net for Charlottetown.
GAME SUMMARY
Just three minutes into the game, former Sea Dogs import Pavel Simek squeezed a shot past Eric Young on the power play to take an early 1-0 lead. Moments later, Kyle Powers extended the lead to 2-0, ripping a shot blocker side as he fell to the ice on a solid setup from Nathan Leek.
At 11:20 of the second period, Powers won a faceoff back to Ethan Montroy, who stepped into a one-time blast past Young to make it 3-0.
1:52 into the third, William Shields capitalized with a quick release that deflected off Young’s glove and in, securing the 4-0 victory for the Islanders.
